Children's Contact Service

about the children's contact service

Located in Ballarat, our Children's Contact Service is a neutral space available for any family that may be separated or going through separation.

The service is safe and supportive allowing family members to have supervised contact with their child/ren in order to develop or maintain meaningful relationships. Families who have Court Orders or a parenting agreement are welcome to use our Service.

Centre Based Supervised Contact

Depending on Court Orders / Parenting Agreements, contact is usually scheduled fortnightly for a period of 2 hours.

Generally families complete 10 - 12 sessions at the centre before moving to Facilitated Changeovers or Self-managed contact arrangements.

Extensions or amendments can be discussed in order to try and meet each family's needs.

community based Supervised Contact

Although centre based visits are preferred, some arrangements may be made for Community Based Contact in situations where it is too difficult for families to attend in person.

Requirements will be different for each family, so please discuss with us directly.

Changeovers are facilitated at the centre, or at times at an agreed location.

While we will try to meet individual needs, this is not always possible due to other contact sessions taking place, so please discuss with us directly.

This is a time for the child and parent to spend quality time together. The centre is set up with toys, books, arts and crafts etc. to provide a safe and fun environment. It is encouraged that the contact parent will bring activities that are of specific interest to the child to the sessions as well. How the sessions run is flexible and aimed at following the child's lead.
